Grok Rails convention? Not yet ...

Only a little time in, but so far I am not enjoying the "conventions" approach.

The book Agile Web Development with Rails is helping. The approach of doing just the part needed right now as you trace through development of an app is engaging, but still gives no gestalt - every page is an unpredicted learning experience, and I never have a sense for what the next code-level step will be.

I'm probably not being fair - it's only my second real day working with Rails and there are a lot of blogs, articles and books yet to read - but I'm having a case of mental hiccups so far.
